A Surprise from the Editor Some of you may have heard the rumor (started by me) that I was shutting down Selfnurture.com and "The Upside of Being Single" eZine. Ha! I couldn't do it! Whenever I start to think it's just too much effort, something happens to make me want to keep it going. So, in response to the times in which we are living, I've added three much-needed NEW WEBSITE SECTIONS which should help singles - or anyone - deal with what's going on today.
* People Coping with LAYOFFS www.Selfnurture.com/layoff.htm
* Nurturing Yourself through these Times of Tragedy www.Selfnurture.com/tribute.htm

When laid off, we singles have the additional stress of not having a spouse's salary or insurance to fall back on! If you've been laid off, are worried about being laid off, or want to help a friend who has been laid off, join us for one of our workshops: Leave 'em Laughin' Layoffs - presented jointly by CAREERWriters and Selfnurture.com www.careerwriters.com/career_events.html Life after the Layoff - presented by Selfnurture.com www.Selfnurture.com/layoff.htm
*** CAREERWriters would like to provide you with a FREE resume critique. http://www.careerwriters.com/free_career_advice.html
*** This quote from Eric Imbody will help you cope better with change: "View your life as happening in the midst of change versus change happening to you. This requires we take an active role in defining and creating our life as a changing adventure, regardless of the circumstances we face." Find out more about Eric at www.TheTransformationCoach.com He operates: - Transformation Solutions Life Coaching - Denver Singles' Forum - presented monthly You can reach him at 720-941-9848 or eimbody@earthlink.net ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3. Nurturing Yourself through these Times of Tragedy
Selfnurture.com has added a page of links that can help you heal during these times of terrorism. Go there for a good, cathartic cry or to feel uplifted. www.Selfnurture.com/tribute.htm. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 4. Pick Yourself Up
We're going to take the words of the following quote to heart: "You have two choices: You can pick yourself and go on; or you can pick yourself up and go on." - Anonymous ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 5. Humor
As we pick ourselves up and move on, let's find some things to smile about. If you like funny stories about kids, you'll like the stories my Dad sent. www.Selfnurture.com/humor-article.htm
*** I subscribe to mailto:Quote-StevenWright-subscribe@yahoogroups.com to get a Steven Wright quote every day and save my favorites for you. Now h-e-r-e'-s Steven. You know how it is when you go to be the subject of a psychology experiment, and nobody else shows up, and you think maybe that's part of the experiment? I'm like that all the time. There aren't enough days in the weekend. I had my coathangers spayed. I went to San Francisco. I found someone's heart. A beautiful woman moved in next door. So I went over and returned a cup of sugar. "You didn't borrow this." "I will." Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.
*** A friend forwarded these slightly warped, yet oh-so-logical definitions:
Abdicate (v.), to give up all hope of ever having a flat stomach.
Esplanade (v.), to attempt an explanation while drunk.
Flabbergasted (adj.), appalled over how much weight you have gained.
Negligent (adj.), describes a condition in which you absentmindedly answer the door in your nightie.
Balderdash (n.), a rapidly receding hairline. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 6. The Upside of Being Single: Even over the HOLIDAYS!
